Absolute = 1

|a − b| of each color channel, times Amplify, as an opaque image: black where equal.

Highlight = 0

ImageMagick compare's picture: pixels that differ in HighlightColor and the rest in LowlightColor, both over a faded copy of the first image flattened onto white.
